Dear Music Parents,
I want to extend to you and your child, my warmest welcome into the music classroom. My name is Ms. Teryl Mertzeis, and I will be your child’s music teacher. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share with you some of the goals for the music program here at Oakland Terrace Elementary School.
About Ms. Mertzeis
I moved to Silver Spring from upstate New York where I taught elementary music for seven years. I completed a bachelor’s of Music Education at State University of New York at Fredonia, and received a master in Music Education from Boston University. My passion exists around my belief that all children can better appreciate themselves, others and the world around them by exploring, creating and performing music.
Goals
I have a very exciting year planned for your child, and am looking forward to continuing the already strong music program at Oakland Terrace. I am confident that at the end of this school year, your child will have learned many new musical skills and concepts, achieved high curricular standards and have had a great experience in the music classroom.
I am looking forward to meeting and interacting with you and your child this year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or call 301-929-2161.
Sincerely,
Ms. Teryl Mertzeis
