I grew up in the capital region in New York. I grew up with two sisters and participated in as many sports and musical activities as I could. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to become a teacher.
After high school, I went to college at the State University of New York at Fredonia to study Music Education with a voice concentration. My other instruments include trumpet, french horn and piano. After receiving my bachelor's degree in 2007, I went on to complete my masters degree in Music Education at Boston University in 2011. I also completed a second masters degree through Niagara University in Educational Leadership. I taught middle school music and special education at Catskill Middle School, then taught elementary music at Yates Elementary School in Schenectady, NY for 7 years. In September, 2014, I moved to Maryland to start a new adventure.
While not being a teacher or student, I enjoy spending time with my husband, visiting family and friends, traveling, shopping, watching the Steelers and the Yankees, and making music.
I am looking forward to the 2017-2018 school year and continuing to work with the students, parents and community at Oakland Terrace Elementary School. I am always available at [email protected] or call 301-929-2161.

I am so excited to be joining the OTES Music team for this semester! I grew up in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Both of my parents are musicians so I am lucky enough to have a home filled with a love for music. I can remember being elementary age and my mom taking me to her choir rehearsals and just wanting to be up there singing too!
I came to the University of Maryland-College Park to pursue a dual degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education: Choral/General. While at UMD, I got to sing in the University Chamber Singers, perform in operas and musicals, and direct the contemporary a capella group, Faux Paz. I wore my cap and gown and walked in graduation in Spring ’17 and am spending this semester full time student teaching; first for 8 weeks at Glenelg High School then finishing 8 weeks at OTES.
When I am not in school, I love getting to practice singing, hanging out with my friends, exploring DC, and watching Friends re-runs!
My favorite experience from UMD was working as the music teacher at our campus’ Center for Young Children, a preschool/kindergarten program for the children of faculty and staff. I absolutely fell in love with getting to share music with this beautiful age group and am thrilled to be continuing my elementary studies with Mrs. Nawezi at OTES!

I grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania and moved to Maryland this summer. I have a younger brother and younger sister and have been involved with music in all different ways my whole life.
After high school, I attended West Chester University of Pennsylvania. While there, I completed a five year program which included completing two Bachelor's degrees. One in Music Education, and another in Vocal Performance. This summer I just began my graduate work, earning certificates in Kódaly and Conversational Solfege music training. Before coming to Maryland, I taught kindergarten and first grade music in the North Pocono School District.
When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family, singing with the Brandywine Singers, and reading novels.
I am looking forward to the upcoming year at Oakland Terrace! Please feel free to contact me at any time at [email protected]
